I WANT TO SEE THE CULTURE OF THE FUTURE

I WANT TO SEE THE CULTURE OF THE FUTURE

A nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people this was wisely said by Muhatma Gandhi. I believe in every nation there is a rich legacy of its culture and history. The people also served as a bearer where the culture resides and be able to survive from the changing fortune of time.

South Korea is one of the nations that able to embrace the promise of the future and manage to hold on from its traditions and cultural heritage and it is all because of the unique passion and dedication of the Korean people to their homeland. I want to see the soul of Seoul.

South Korea is also widely known for being a trendsetter for passion, entertainment, and dance craze. South Korea is not only known for its rich culture but also setting the tone for modern culture. The world's eye is now set in South Korea for bringing some of the great icon for the future. I want to see first hand the future of culture and the culture of the future, in South Korea.

As far as my memory can bring me, I came to cross the word Korea was when I was in my elementary days. I further understand its uniqueness, during my High School Social Science class that there was South and North Korea. Little did I know that the word South Korea will become very famous on the Philippine television when it started to hit the Philippine local channel, through its Korean drama. Since then, my interest to see in person the beautiful places and interesting people in the land of the morning calm greatly intensifies.
My major influence to have a tour and visit your country was greatly influence by watching your Korean drama and meeting some Korean friends at church. I was introduced then to some Korean food as well, like kimchi, bulgogi and kimbab which most of my friends have come to love to eat after church service.

I said to myself that if I will be given a chance to visit and have a tour around South Korea, I will definitely go to Seoul, I said to myself it is a dream come true to have atleast a moment even in a short time to see and to have a tour around Seoul.  Once I am in Seoul, surely I want to see and I will visit beautiful places in Seoul like The Seoul tower and to take picture of the famous “locks of love” in Seoul Tower, I heard that it was more beautiful during the night time. I also wanted to see the five main grand palaces built by the Joseon Dynasty, the Gyeongbok Palace, Changgyeong Palace, Changdeok Palace, Doksu Palace, and Kyonghi Palace, my aim is to be able to see one of this palaces. Also, I would like to go around and buy souvenirs at Namdaemun Market which according to some blog I read, this is a place where I can buy some souvenirs at the very low prices.  Insandong is also one of the top recommended places that the internet bloggers recommended to visit because most of its product are related to the culture of South Korea such as Hanbok and other Korean products.

All these beautiful places I mentioned are only part of a bigger sum. Behind the beautiful scenery are the lushness of its history and culture of the Korean people. I think South Korea has more than what we think it can offer. As A librarian and a soon to be a masteral student majoring in History , the culture itself is the best thing I would like to see in Korea. The warm and vast multi-cultural South Korean people are what I wanted to get acquainted more. I want to see their everyday living, the hopes in their eyes and the dreams they have. I have admired their disciple and dedication to work, that is what I wanted to see. The people behind those beautiful architecture, the people who have built the nation of Korea for centuries, and the people whose hands toiled for their nation to rise.

I think as I see the beautiful Cheonggyecheon River I will remember the  beautiful streams of water here in the Philippines. I admire how Cheonggyecheon River was made to be so modernized, that it captured the appeal of nature and the newness of modern architecture.  However, Han river will take me back from the old century Korea when Han river was still a major route use for trading. The  Korean Folk Village is also one thing I want to see. This village will surely take me hundred years back to the old Korean Nation. A glimpse of its past will surely tell a lot about the culture and the people of the Joseon Era.

Lotte World and Everland are on my list too. I have never been to other country, and I hope I will be able to see these two amazing amusement park which I am sure is very comparable to other amusement park in the world.

I believe there are lots of wonderful and interesting places to see in Seoul, I know that I have a very limited of knowledge as well. Though, I can only visit South Korea in a very limited time because of work schedules, I also hope I can be given a chance to sing in one of the Christian Church there. Even for just one Sunday, how I love to sing  with my fellow Christians in a different culture and country. It would be a privilege and honor to sing with.

This little korean doll is one my favorite souvenir which one my friend bought for me when she went to South Korea. I hope to see in my very own eye, the actual Korean lady wearing her traditional dress. That would be great.

Lastly, but not the least, I want to see the famous Gangnam District. I bet there are about 200 million people now, wanted to see the stylish Gangnam district, which made famous by the song Gangnam style. Who would not wan't to see?

I am excited to see this beautiful country of yours and to have a tour around Seoul and experience your culture. What an honor and a blessing.
